    I help my friend who runs a haunted house in October set up his props using an Arduino based controller. With a push of the button we get repeatable, controlled sound and light show. It makes life better.

    I like the Arduino or Arduino based boards. I've played with the Particle Argon quite a bit. I like them because they'll access the internet and update a function as needed. You can have them send you a text when an event takes place. They are accessed and programmed over the internet. You don't have to plug a USB cable into it to update the program.

    I think I've mentioned here my wife has a Pi that was donated to her for
    her classroom. The kids were learning about it, then they started getting
    into laser and making pens and 3d printing and this was no longer 'new'
    (she was working with them in Python).

    I'd like to figure out something to do with it that would help the kids...

    Do something that is triggable. Hit a button and it plays a sound or video. Make it interactive.
