• Our Next Trip

From Mike Dippel@954:895/1 to All on Monday, November 13, 2023 20:22:36
We have a personal trip planned om Nov 22nd to visit my daughter and her husband in
north Georgia. We could have rented a van and stayed in a motel, but the campground we
normally use will still be open, even in late November.

We will be bringing gifts with us so we can celebrate an early Christmas. The RV is large
enough to carry the gifts, so this works out for us as the best option.

We tow our vehicle behind the RV. We love to camp, and this gives us the opportunity to
camp and use the car to visit while we are there.

I miss traditional camping, getting older really does suck. At some point I want to purchase a reasonable RV-style travel camper so that I can get outside more.

Just need to stage the vehicle with proper networking functions to accommodate the rest of the family with their tech 'needs' =)

I wish I had a good answer for you on that. They do sell a roof mounted Wi-Fi extender.
If your phone has hotspot capabilities, you would be able to share your connection with
    other devices.

When we travelled last August, I was able to use a Roku device to enable us to watch
recorded programs from our Spectrum TV app. I was also able to do some web design,
etc. But I would suggest investing in something that gives a good Wi-Fi connection to
start. I didn't have an extender, but I was still able to get by. I think you only need a
2mb connection to be able to stream.

I actually have a portable hotspot from our cellular provider, would just need to connect that and make sure that it can get a good signal.

My family is a 'connected family' so everyone has at least two personal devices. =)

I have always had good luck with portable hotspots, but I found that my phone's hotspot
is generally adequate and doesn't cost anything additional.

On my last trip, I used that, or the campground's hotspot. All I needed was a 2 mb
connection to stream, and most times the park's Wi-Fi was adequate.

I was able to use a Roku device to load the Spectrum app which gave me access to
everything that I recorded to the 'cloud' DVR which is a feature that Spectrum provides
    to travelers like myself.

    I was a happy dude.
