If you can find a banknote from then, even on a 20 dollar bill from 1928, you can find the assurance that you are entitled to 20 dollars worth of gold in exchange for it. Well, try that today.

Now you know the reason why the US has had only one POTUS with a PhD.

a third of them closed permanently.

price of oil. So what we have had since 1972 is petro-dollars. Nothing

What happens when the price of oil tanks, and becomes worthless? How
