Did you ever see such a high volume of celebrities speaking out against a political candidate before? I've seen them do it a little before, but never at
this frequency.

I think Trump was the first Republican to win the Presidency during the social media era. Before that, the celebrity had to be important enough for someone to want to put a microphone in their face. Now they, like Trump, can blurt out whatever they are thinking/feeling at any one moment in an attempt to influence their loyal herd of followers.

I think you're right to some extent, but this mass-messaging was beyond just tweets and social media. I feel like even without the addition of social media, the attacks elsewhere were unprecedented.

That could be. I don't watch entertainment related news as much as I
used to because I have found other things to spend time on.
The media attacks go beyond the news. Sesame Street, The Connors, Buzz Lightyear, every late show, every early show, gameshows, every awards show, basketball games, work training, even school homework assignments, were all used as anti-Trump propaganda. And I'm sure I'm leaving out may other unexpected outlets they used also.
Meanwhile, Comedy Central launched a new nightly show, with
Cobert's backing, that suddenly disappeared when the host
interviewed Kamala and didn't softball her. They recently
relaunched it as a short, once-a-week show.
If Trump were to ever leave the limelight, I am not sure how any
of them would stay on the air.
Since Colbert left to do The Late Show, anything that ran after The Daily Show
loundered. I'm pretty sure they've gone through a half dozen or more shows at is point, and I think Larry Wilmore probably was the best of all of them.

The same way they did before Trump was around.
