IIRC, I am pretty sure that Jeff-T usually refers to it as an oligarchy.
I was pretty shocked when he called it a democracy this time. :)

Only Lefties heard of it. The rest of us live in the real world where such sayings are laughed at.

Lefties change the definition of words to match their current delusion. They have no concept of what a "democracy" is. To them, "democracy" is just a label the put on things to make them sound better.
Sort of like how they keep saying that "Democratic Socialism" is somehow different from non-democratic socialism.
According to a claim made by Senator(!) Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) today,
the reason that Putin invaded Ukraine was in order to steal Ukraine's farmlands. Why does Russia need farmlands, you might ask? Well,
according to Tuberville, it's because "[Putin] can't feed his people.
It's a communist country, so he can't feed his people, so they need more farmland."

I don't recall saying that, but I have read it. I think I would be more likely
to refer to it as an authoritarian democracy or a dictatorship.

That's not as far off as John Kerry's "I hope Putin will still focus on climate change." (Doesn't look like Putin's interested right now.)

Hmm. Claiming the right to annex bordering lands by force sounds a lot like "Manifest Destiny" to me. Starting wars to gain territory is not specific to any ideology, nor is any ideology immune to it.

Not really. Tuberville made a major mistake as compared to Kerry's statement of hope. Nice try at a tit-for-tat, but no.

The difference I would see here is that we are talking soverign nations (what Russia is doing) vs. territories held by foreign lands. I would agree that no ideology is immune, but Russia's leader has been acting
more like a dictator (something that the USSR had, and most communist nations have had) than anything else.

I don't know about that. You seem smart enough to realize that hoping
for Putin to focus on climate change is silly talk. Mistaking Putin for
a communist-era dictator is not too far off the mark considering his actions. I will give you that Tommy was certainly alive when the USSR fell apart and should remember that. It was a pretty big deal, after

Biden can curb the invasion by stopping the gas purchases, but he won't do it because he doesn't want the price to soar ahead of election day, and he also don't want to increase stateside production because that would disrupt the "Destroy America" campaign, plus he'd have to admit to Trump being right about

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she supports banning all Russian oil to the
United States amid growing momentum in Congress to find additional ways to cut off revenue streams to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I'm all for that. Ban it," Pelosi said Thursday at a press conference at the Capitol.
Bipartisan members of Congress have been pushing legislation to ban oil imports from Russia and Republicans, especially, have been calling for more odomestic il and gas production in the wake of Russia's ongoing assault on Ukraine.
The most recent data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration show that in December, the U.S. imported 405,000 barrels per day of crude oil and
petroleum products from Russia or almost 5% of all U.S. imports for the month."

You are confusing a "successfull businessman" with "someone who runs a successful business."
The Wall Street investment goons regularly buy existing thriving businesses, extract all possible capital out of them, leverage it to obtain other financing,
then dump it (Bain Capital is a good example of this). The business fails into bankruptcy, and the investors get to right off the "loss" on their taxes, and businessmen make billions. The businessmen are successful, since their only goal is to make as much short term profit
as possible.
A person who runs a successful business is someone who builds a long
term business that seeks to be as stable as possible and employ as many people as possible.
Remember that Lefties only know how to destroy things. So "successfull businessman" and "someone who runs a successful business" are identical
in their minds.

It's almost as if you're ridiculing him for his stance, rather than joining him in debate, which implies that you are unwilling or unable to have the intelligent conversations that you mentioned earlier.
I have brought his false generalizations to his attention in the past, several times. We seem to have reached an arrangement where he continues to make them and I continue to mock them. If he stops making them, I
will stop mocking them (as I will then have nothing to mock), but if I stop mocking them now and then, will he stop making them? Most assuredly not. They're pretty much his trademark.
I would remind you that this isn't the first time I've brought this particular 'joke' up. It may or may not have been a factor in my treating you like you treat others, not so long ago...
It is not for you to judge.
I wasn't suggesting that you were uptight, or I would have probably s "loosen" up. However, you are a little heavy-handed in how you respon people. And, as was already mentioned, you wanted intelligent conversation. How do you expect to get that while acting like a fool?
That's a fairly loaded question and as such, I refuse to answer. As for
my heavy-handedness, it does not come from nowhere; it comes from seeing lie after lie after lie being spread by the ignorant, ill-informed denizens of this echo.
As the owner of my bandwidth, I'm entitled to waste it as I see fit. you don't want to waste yours, stop opening my messages. Or, *gasp* don't be a jerk so I don't have to do this anymore!
As far as your attempts to moderate my responses, I can assure you that you are indeed simply wasting bandwidth.
Trust me, I'm not enjoying it anymore than you are. Dealing with delinquent children (of any age) is far more annoying than fun.
If people continue irresponsible, ignorant behavior, then I reserve the right to mock them for doing so. That is beyond your ability to control.
I don't know if you've noticed this, but I am becoming less polite as this bickering goes on. I have noticed, and I don't like it. You certainly have a way of bringing out the worst in people.
Perhaps you should stop fixating on me, then? It's a little creepy, actually.
While I was away, I signed up
for the America's Test Kitchen website, which has the most amazing recipes. I've also been working on the next iteration of my electronic herb garden, which will have a display unit/alarm separate from the
sensor unit. The sensor unit will have light, temperature, humidity, and
8 soil moisture sensors, as well as a camera (one sensor unit per 8 plants). The light, temperature, and soil moisture readings will be monitored via WiFi by the display unit, which will display graphs and photos while idle, but will display warnings in the event that a reading exceeds allowable parameters. It will also send out a tweet via its own Twitter account describing the problem, and that will cause an alert on
my phone.
Does it sound like I'm having any lack of enjoyment in my life?

Whatever, man. I'm done. You do you and I'll do me.

If you read back, I am sure that you will find that Jeff *never* makes any generalizations about people he perceives as being right-of-center...
I'm actually very sensitive to that and, much to Aaron's perpetual consternation, tend to use qualifiers like "many," "most," etc.

No, of course not! Not Jeff! (@_@)
(I assume that was sarcasm, yes?)
I was only trying to give you a (sort of) friendly reminder that...well
trolls are bad, mmkay?
Let me decide who is trolling, thanks! :)
For the record, I wasn't accusing anyone of trolling, I was simply saying it's bad...but, to your point, I really am trying. It's not like I'm being a mirror again...

Okay, that's fair. But, along the same vein, if you stop mocking him, I can stop giving you crap about it, as I will then have nothing to complain about.

Many and most are not far off from the generalizations that Ron makes. I somehow doubt that if Ron said "Many/most lefties are always... " something, that would stop you from the Ron-as-a-parrot impersonations.
In many cases, it would be more accurate to say "the loudest righties/lefties do <annoying/bad/horrible thing here>," or "the righties/lefties that are in charge of the government are doing
<annoying/ bad/horrible thing here>," or "the righties/lefties that are bashing/defending Biden/Trump/whoever the loudest are <annoying/bad/horrible thing here>."
They are the ones most likely to make the news, or (apparently) to post
in FIDO political echos.

I suspect that if Jeff-T were to stop mocking Ron for generalizing Lefties, Ron would miss it.
Similarly, if Ron were to stop generalizing, Jeff-T would miss it.

What you are not taking into account is that Ron is repeats the same old lines accusing "lefties" of this or that generic fault. The truth is
that usually those lines apply much more to the alt-Right than to liberals. In addition, he rarely has discourse with anyone other than those he perceives to be as conservative as he is, I.E.,he is incapable
of having an intelligent conversation with anyone who is not in his
camp.
For the record, I wasn't accusing anyone of trolling, I was simply sayin it's bad...but, to your point, I really am trying. It's not like I'm bei mirror again...
No you are fine. Trolls are bad, but I don't think either of you have quite got to that level at the moment (although I still have a few messages to read yet! <grin>).
I suspect that if Jeff-T were to stop mocking Ron for generalizing Lefties, Ron would miss it. Similarly, if Ron were to stop
generalizing, Jeff-T would miss it. So I am not too concerned about it, so long as they don't disrespect each other or devolve into gutter language.

They are much different from generalizations if they're true. They also acknowledge that it's not a blanket trait of the group being generalized about.

Perhaps. In other circumstances, it might be appropriate to say that the most extreme lefties/righties believe this or that.

Ron believes his generalizations are true, just like you believe that yours are.
Belief is one thing; objective facts are quite another. Ron's generalizations are easily disproven, no matter what he "believes."
