President Biden introduced new travel bans after the new COVID variant was identified, but in no way did this involve the border being "completely open."

Trump restricted Americans' travel to Mexico, which Biden has continued. Nothing has changed with regard to Mexico. Biden's new bans involve certain African countries and have nothing at all to do with Mexico.

In September 2021, there were 192,001 encounters recorded at the US-Mexico border by immigration officials, with at least 102,673 of those resulting in deportations. This is hardly a "completely open" border.

If you're wondering how the Gateway Pundit managed to conflate travel bans
from Africa with the southern US border, you're not alone. Apparently belief
in this lie is contingent on belief in a series of previous lies, almost all
of which rely on a belief that the US-Mexico border is "wide open."

The US-Mexico border is not "wide open." At best, that's a hyperbolic exaggeration; at worst, it's an outright lie intended to sway people politically. There continues to be a border policy, and the majority of
people who attempt to enter the country are turned away.

Biden has largely kept Trump's border policies intact, except that he has exempted children travelling alone as well as some families. Additionally, on July 26, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it would adopt a fast-tracked screening process that would quickly deport migrant families determined by officials to be ineligible for entry.
