Haven't seen a new message in here in over a year. Is there anyone else even here in this echo?

What are you using for an OLR these days? Multimail on Linux here.

Funny that you should post this. I just did a search for offline mail readers and Multimail looks like it would fit the bill for me.

Does it allow you to cut-and-paste messages to it before you send them out?
I am looking for something that would allow me to send notices out without having to do it via telnet.

How hard is it to install?

It's the only "modern" one that I know of. I used to use a couple of
others back in the MSDOS days (SLMR and Bluewave), and you can still do
that today to some extent, but it can be a hassle. I've been using it
on Linux for years, and really like it.

I can only speak for the Linux version, but you can define an external
editor of your choice in the config file. I use 'nano' and yes, I can
paste into that editor from some outside source.

How hard is it to install?

It has to be compiled for Linux (which is easy). If you're on Windows
it's probably easier, I suspect it's just a normal installer (next/next/finish) wizard thing.

    Get it here:

I downloaded it but I don't see any section that allows you to connect to a BBS so you can exchange QWK packets. Is this a Qwk reader? That is what I am looking for.

It is indeed a QWK packet Offline Mail Reader. It doesn't do any
connecting to a BBS, nor does any other offline mail reader. You
connect to a BBS however you like (with a telnet client such as
SyncTerm, for example) and download a QWK packet of echomail messages,
and then (optionally) disconnect from the BBS.

Then you start MultiMail, and open the downloaded packet of messages
with it. You read them and reply as desired, and MM creates a ".REP"
packet (of REPlies). Then you connect again to the BBS and upload the
REP packet, which gets put into the BBS's message bases as appropriate.

I was hoping to be able to see every conference area that I subscribed to show up in the QWK packet so I can select it and post in it. I will play with it. Thanks for pointing me to it. I'm sure it will come on handy.

Using the MultiMail reader - from the menu listing areas w/messages tap
"l" (lowercase L) and get a listing of all echoes carried by the BBS
    you are looking at.

Scroll to that entry, tap "e" (enter message) and proceed as usual.

    Hope this helps

That function is there, press 'L' in MM.

If you'd care to subscribe to that echo you can do that using your MM
reader. Just pump the insert key and when you upload your REP packet
    you will be subscribed.

Conversely - if you wish to quit an echo, hit the delete key whils you
are scanning the posts offered. I got rid of ALL political echoee due
    to a horrendous noise-to-signal ratio.
