EDITORIAL
The Fidonews Saga
The first Fidonews issue was published the 4th of December 1984.
The first couple of months Tom Jennings was the editor. Then Thom Henderson took over. Another nine months later single editor era
ended, for the time being, and a team of editors produced our ezine.
This lasted for about ten years, when Donald Tees became single
editor. But just after four months, he went AWOL and no Snooze was published for over a month (so if you search for FNEWSD23, 24, 25 or
26 and don't find anything, now you know why) until Christopher Baker
took over.
From thereon it was once again a single editor enterprise (AFAIK).
Between the 1st of July 1996 and the 14th of January 2002 (almost
to the day exactly 20 years ago) six editors passed by, giving an
average of less than one year on the post. That day was also the day
that the first issue with this editor was published.
The names of the first 13 editors can be found at the end of the
Fidonews.
As a side note, reading the above mentioned part of the Snooze, I
realized that the Staff listing needed a long overdue update. Fixed.
Hopefully this means that fewer people will write to the editor complaining about inaccuracies in the lists.
The proper info *is* after all to be found in the first lines of the lists,
if you care to read it.

Letters to the Editor should always be *encouraged* rather
than discouraged. Especially by the "editor". So certainlly
that statement makes no sense. No sense at all.

I don't understand. Do you not see 'Frank L. Vest' at the end
of the EDITORS EMERITI list, the big square at the end of the
Snooze?
Quit talking to yourself in public, Bj?rn.

You are right. Maybe next time I'll publish any comment, on the lists that I
do not edit, in e.g. the rebuttals column?

As you know, Tom Jennings was the first editor of the Fidonews.
And Frank Vest was the 13th to sit at the table. And we all know
what he did ...
I tried to explain it to you. It is all quite simple, really.
And it is not just the USA that regard the number 13 as unlucky,
but all English-speaking areas.
You see, it all goes back to the Last Supper. The number 13 is
unlucky because one of those thirteen present was the betrayer of
Jesus Christ. And Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus,
was the 13th to sit at the table.

Bullshit! Superstitious claptrap.

As I said - superstition.
Oh, I am sure some non-English speaking areas also regard the
number 13 as unlucky for the same reason.

My daughter has birthday the 13th. She's the luckiest person I
know.
