Not a problem initially. Just planted an Easter lily today, courtesy
of our preaching pastor's wife. We've a small area where a tree was
taken down some years ago that we're working on breaking down the stump remains by planting lilies and other flowers there.

Curious -- how does that help break down the stump? Or is it just a
matter of planting something nice while it decomposes naturally?

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

    Title: My Meat Loaf
    Categories: Easy, Tested
    Yield: 4 Sm loafs

    2 lb Ground beef
    1/2 lb Ground pork
    2 lg Eggs, lightly beaten
    1 c Panko crumbs

    MMMMM---------------------VEGETABLE MIXTURE--------------------------
    2 tb Butter
    3/4 c Finely chopped ohions
    1/2 c Finely chopped celery
1/2 c Finely chopped bell pepper
    1 ts Salt
    1 ts Pepper
    1 ts Garlic powder
    1/2 ts Tabasco sauce
    1 tb Worchestershire sauce
1/2 c Evaporated mile (or milk)
    1/2 c Catsup

Melt butter in medium fry pan over medium heat. Add the veggies,
spices and saute until mixture starts sticking to pan, about 6
minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping the pan bottom well.
Stir in the milk and catsup, continue cooking for about 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow veggie mxiture to cool to room temperature.

Place gound beef and pork in large mixing bowl. Add the eggs and the
cooled cooked veggies. Stir in Panko bread crumbs. Combine
everything together until well mixed. Mixture will be moist - add
    more panko if necessary.

Divide mixture into 4 equal portions, for each section into a loaf and
place in 4 inch loaf pan. Place pans on large baking sheet and place
in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Drain any fat from
pan, return to oven - raise temperature to 400 and bake another 30
    minutes.

When done, remove from pan and place on plate to cool before freezing.

Makes 4 small loaves - each will feed two.

Can make one large loaf - follow directions above, cooking 1 1/2
    hours.

Tested and given the thumbs up.

I think it's the planting of smomething nice, hoping the roots will help
break down the tree roots. (G) We had tried seeding the stump area with mushroom spoores but nothing happened there. Waited a few years, then in
2020, Steve did a lot of outdoor work the first couple of months of lock
down for Covid. He turned that area into a small garden spot, improved a
couple of other small flower garden spots and added mulch to all the
flower beds. Last year we had lilies that grew over 6' tall in the one
bed, looks like they'll do the same this year.

Have you looked into what it might cost to have someone grind the stump
down? Or whether or not Steve might rent the equipment and do it
    himself?

    1 md Bunch broccoli
    -broken into florets
1 md Yellow Bell Peper; julienned
1 md Red Bell Pepper; julienned
    1 md Orange Bell Peppe-julienned
    1 md Red onion, halved/sliced
8 oz Sharp cheddar cheese, cubed

    (more or less to taste)

    MMMMM--------------------------OPTIONAL-------------------------------
    Other versions of this salad
    Suggest adding sliced
    Pepperoni.

NOTE: Salad Dressing - I used a Kraft "Light Done Right" dressing
"House" Italian - worked better than "Zesty" flavor.

    ***

In large bowl, combine vegetables and cheddar cheese. Add salad
    dressing toss to coat.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

    Serve with slotted spoon.

NOTE: Makes a BIG Bowl of salad, probably have to cut down on volume.

Steve did rent a stump grinder a couple of years ago for some of the
stumps. It took a lot out of him physically so I don't think he wants to
do it again. This stump has worn down over the years; I think it's
mostly gone but for the root system. Probably not worth the cost to have someone else do it at this point.

Mozzarella or provelone would be more authentic.

IOW, good for a church picnic but the folks usually expect broccoli
    salad from me. (G)
