The captain of an Envoy Air Embraer E175 suffered a heart attack in late November while the aircraft had just taken off. The co-pilot of the American regional carrier immediately contacted air traffic control and ensured that the aircraft could land safely at the departure airport O'Hare in Chicago. Despite efforts to save the pilot, he died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
Flight ENY3556 of Envoy Air, a regional subsidiary of American Airlines, was en route from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, a one-hour flight, when the captain suffered a heart attack shortly after takeoff.
