Aer Lingus now flies with the Airbus A320neo. The Irish airline put the first aircraft into service between Dublin and London Heathrow on Wednesday morning. For the time being, two aircraft have been ordered, which would initially fly for the Russian SmartAvia.
Earlier this year it was announced that leasing company CDB Avation would not rent the two A320neos to the Russians, because of the international sanctions resulting from the war in Ukraine.
Aer Lingus saw its opportunity and signed up as an alternative customer for the two aircraft, which replace two older A320s. Compared to those aircraft, the A320neo promises about 20 percent less fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition, Aer Lingus can accommodate more passengers in the aircraft: 186 compared to 174.
The A320neos are mainly used by Aer Lingus between Dublin and London.
