Emirates will resume non-stop flights to Auckland, New Zealand on December 1, 2022. The airline flies on this route with the Airbus A380. The non-stop flight is one of the world's longest commercial connections at a distance of 14,200 kilometers. The duration is between 16 and 17 hours.
Emirates already flies to Auckland, but now makes a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The carrier does this with a Boeing 777-300ER. From December, the airline will operate separate flights from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur and from Dubai to Auckland, and vice versa.
Since 2016 until the corona crisis, Emirates has already flown directly from Auckland to Dubai, without a stopover. This placed it in fourth place among longest commercial flights. With a distance of 15,349 kilometers, the route between New York JFK and Singapore, operated by Singapore Airlines, is currently the longest connection in the world.
In 2025, Qantas aims to break this record with a route between Sydney and London Heathrow, a flight distance of approximately 17,000 kilometers. The Australian carrier is using an Airbus A350-1000 for this.
