Horizontal layout, ATX support, and two dummy floppy drive cutouts. One supports a 5 1/4" drive bay, the other hides USB-C, USB-A and headphone jacks.

Ha! I've been seeing that thing a lot lately. Personally, if I wanted to build a retro style sleeper, I'd probably go with the Checkmate A1500
Mini or Plus instead. They're a bit pricey, and don't really include all of the modern conveniences a nicer new PC case would though.
I have one of these Checkmate cases and it's brilliant. Can't speak
highly enough about the build quality here.

I love the Amiga 1000 meets Amiga 3000 styling, and how they're made to support
such a variety of use-cases, from re=homing Amigas, to Pi and MiSTER builds, and the Mini ITX/Micro ATX versions. Very slick. I'm really curious about how
his weird line of LCDs does. :P

my Amiga 2000 getting ready to act as a second BBS on AmiExpress.
so far (I hope). Project 4 will be an Atari Mega ST 4 setting up for BBS'ing. And guess... the Project 5 will be the C 128D with maybe
CNet-DS II. I don't know it yet which BBS Software is cool enough for
the C 128D?

Nice! AmiExpress is great - the rewrite in E is fantastic and I think the author is pretty responsive.

Which BBS software for the Atari Mega ST? Or are you just planning to use it as
a client to login to other BBSes?
There's been some updates to Michtron for Atari ST. I've always liked Ratsoft
but there are some real Y2K issues and it requires some hacky workarounds for
making telnet work. The Atari BBS scene is small compared to PC (of course) but
even Amiga BBSes, another Atari BBS would be super cool!
As for any C128D, I have no idea. Image?

(Building a PC into an Altair 8800 case)
I'm getting sick of my floor-standing tower case sucking up dust and
want a desktop PC again. Maybe it's time to go shopping for a cool
case, if I'm going to be looking at it daily.

I just ordered Cooler Master 300L for my X16 Commander. I wish I could
find a solution like Checkmate easier available, then I'd definitively consider.
I especially like the shelf to hide the keyboard below the computer, inside the case. Cool idea!
Damn. I actually didn't realize there was any availability issue with
them - looks like you need to buy them from 3rd party vendors now, and this being geared towards the Amiga scene, they're pretty much
exclusively going to be in Europe? Lame! Although, my various Amiga projects in recent years have got me pretty comfortable with ordering
from weird European stores and suffering the high postage fees. :/

current one. That said, I decided I wanted to throw my DVD-RW into my
new machine and discovered that virtually no modern cases include 5.25" external bays now, so that really, really narrowed down my choices.

That's exactly my issue as well, just opposite direction. I love weird
US stores and then paying 100 bucks more for shipping and praying
customs at my local airport don't like my stuff more than me :)
I do kind of wish I targeted Micro ATX for my new build - while a little sleeker, my new mid tower ATX case is just as chonky as my current one. That said, I decided I wanted to throw my DVD-RW into my new machine and discovered that virtually no modern cases include 5.25" external bays
now, so that really, really narrowed down my choices.

My new-ish machine has a vertical laptop form factor slot for a DVD. I
have a ton of backup DVDs I refer to occasionally, and it's a pain.
jack phlash wrote to poindexter FORTRAN <=-
Nice - what kind of case is that, out of curiosity? I was actually just looking at my old Mini ITX machine the other day, kind of wishing I'd bought a laptop drive for its case.
WARNING: LIVE CULTURES
I've not had a lot of overseas shipping issues, thankfully. In fact, sometimes its even been shockingly quick. I've also yet to have any customs issues either. Maybe I've just been lucky, but hopefully you don't have too many legitimate problems when getting stuff from this
side of the pond. :/
Nothing custom, it's a Dell Optiplex mini-tower. I'm tempted to pull off
all of the plastic and paint it dull olive drab - go for an atompunk
All good so far. Old D&D books and retro computers fly under the radar :D
The strangest thing I've smuggled back home so far was some catalyst
part for old VW Beetle that a friend asked me to bring which was
difficult to order in Europe and plenty in US. I had my luggage labeled with Security Check sticker when arrived home but I delivered.
Other strange thing was a piece of rock that was some Golden Circle Employee of the year award for a friend who could not attend the annual
HQ event.
I did not want to break it so I had it in my hand luggage. Conversation with the security check guys was hilarious to the limit! But I also brought it back home safe!
