  • Aerobiz/Supersonic?

    Any love for Aerobiz and/or Aerobiz Supersonic, sega genesis and super nintendo? I first played aerobiz 20 or so years ago, because browsing roms I naturally started with the letter A and worked my way down. It's kind of campy, weird? slow.. it is like playing Civilization but as an Airline CEO.

    It's very different, maybe, in the genre of SimCity. I just, wouldn't ever think I would want to play a "business simulation" game, but shucks, it has grown on me.

    The biggest problem with the game is the controls, it is a port of a PC-98 (fm towns?) game that was mouse-based with higher resolution, in some cases you move a mouse cursor with the gamepad, it is slow to make actions because of this, and, at the end of each turn it reports the ongoings and that is also a bit slow and frustrating, that you can't review them later and its a bit much to remember which city is having olympics in how many years etc. It takes hours to play a single game even if you tried to be fast, because of so many artificial or slow platform delays. It's easy to zone out. I have the same problem playing Civilization on a slow platform like the Nintendo Switch.

    But other than that, I really enjoy it, very chill. I've been programming a remake in the same 16-bit graphics style using C#/XNA, about 6KLOC so far, hope to take it to steam by the end of the year, wish me luck ..

    I did not know that game, looks interesting. A bit like Amiga/PC game called "Ports of Call" just about airlines not cargo ships.
