  • I've gone down the rabbit hole...

I picked up a Meshtastic node - a Heltec v3. I'll be unavailable for the next few days whilst I get lost in new tech.

I love the Meshtastic project - I have several nodes; one solar one on my roof... in our small Oregon town theres a few of us trying to get a bigger group going.

I really like the Lilygo T-Deck(?) - the one with a 3.5" LCD screen... and its getting new firmware thats much nicer (GUI) than the old one.

Meshtastic is a fun one... more cool if you get your neighbors playing ball.

I left mine plugged in last night - it seems like quite a few nodes
    checked in overnight.

I keep two nodes at the house - and one node mobile with me as I travel... I'm also on the nationwide thing w/ data, but only on my mobile node.

    Another thing I just read...

Critical cryptographic flaw in Meshtastic Mesh Networking platform exposes private communications.

Take action: If you have Meshtastic devices, check the firmware. If it's 2.5.0 and above, it's very wise to update to firmware version 2.6.11 or later.

Fortunately this one is patched, thank you for the heads-up about it.

I have been experimenting a lot with Meshtastic and Meshcore lately -- have put up a node on the roof, too, for fun -- but local topography (hills) and lack of local adoption is not making it as much fun.

Are you in a more urban environment?

Good - when I posted, I just wanted to get the infoz out there...

I'm in a small-medium town/city; but we have a group of us trying to get nodes around... we have around 25, but need m0re coverage...

I have a rooftop node, a repeater and a couple indoor nodes - and one mobile node that I drive around with daily all over OR/WA.

Sounds like I need to litter a few solar powered repeaters around my area :)
