We had some discussion on Absinthe BBS that helped me discover Garbage Tail Kids phenomenon from the 80s.. Art Spiegelman's cards and the movie which rebooted my brain completely while watching :)

Oh man, I love Garbage Pail Kids! I used to make my mom drive all over town in search of those fuckin cards! LOL I remember being in elementary school calling all the stores in the phonebook asking them "Do you sell Garbage Pail Kids?"

"Messy Tessy" is one of the funniest ones! She's a girl who not only picks her nose, but she's got a cats-in-the-cradle-of-boogers! LOL

Let me know when you're ready to watch the Garbage Pail Kids movie. I have it somewhere!

in the 80s. Brought them all to school one day and left them on my de

I had every single one from 1st series up to the 9th (I think? been a lotta years), most in triplicate or more. :) Also had a bunch of the
other 'collectibles' like the oversized trading cards, a handful of the posters. Weekly, my dad and I would go to the one store in this area
that still carried them. I swear he was just as into them as I was if
    not more!

That's funny! Where did you get yours from? Matzo's deli carried them. I think they had them at Carls Drugstore. But they were hard AF to find!

Salvage Outlet, used to be on Birdsall (or was it West Wendell?) in W. Endicott. He had Garbage Pail Kids and the best freakin' selection of penny candy in town. Although called "penny candy" it was more like 5c and 10c candies.. the Jolly Rancher sticks, loose pixie stix, gumballs, licorice... you name it, he had it. He also had the only Slush Puppy machine this side of North St. :)

I don't think I was ever in there, but it was always those kinds of stores that had them. Those were weird times!

You guys had awesome childhood. I only had sports cards and car cards to collect until I discovered Magic the Gathering as teenager :)

Rock Cards were the next coolest thing after Garbage Pail Kids.

Yea, those! And there was another similar brand in the 90s too:

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/1003247927/90s-pop-rockrap-music-card-packages

But the "Pro Set Superstars" cards weren't as cool as the 1991 rock cards that you linked to. The Pro Set Superstars had pop stars from all genres.

I have the full collection of both. Then there's this other one from the 1985: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1003247927/90s-pop-rockrap-music-card-packages

    "Rock Star Concert Cards."

I only have a few of those because I was only 6 years old when they debuted. I have the Rudy Sarzo one because I was a fan of him growing up.

Star Wars cards were big when I was growing up. I have the first 3 sets, missing a card or two. Lots of stale gum chewed to get those babies!

I still have the CCG (Collectible Card Game) from the 90s.. about 1000 cards.
