Anyone know where I can find it?
Don't think it was ever released.
It... kind of was. Someone (sorry, I can't remember who) have privately spread around a pgp encrypted copy of it years ago hoping someone could crack it. A lot of us tried, but no one could manage it. I think someone (again, I don't recall who) eventually did though. I assume it's been spread around a bit, but it's in the uploads section on Distortion - obv2backup.zip.
Ah, I vaguely remember something about it, but then I also remember it wasn't really worth it. Then Mercyful started working on a clone or something like that, and then disappeared. :(
Well, I mean, all of these BBS source codes are a disaster to one degree or another. Mercyful Fate worked for years hacking on Illusion, so he probably figured he had enough of cleaning up other people's convoluted, crusty Pascal projects by that point. :P
Yeah for sure. Although he worked on Enthral for a long time, which was his own home grown shit. Then got bored and started trying to mimic the OBV/2 source. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON ANY MORE. :)
Ha! Yep, he's still working on Oblivion/2 XRM @ https://github.com/M-griffin/Oblivion2-XRM

Knowing, and seeing, other peoples source code is the only thing that keeps me going - I know I write some ooooooofa code, but so long as it works...
It can only get BETTER. :P
I have a python codebase right now that DOES what I need it to, but I found a project that does a similar thing and is SOOOO much better...
lol. Guess that helps us all learn to get better, anyway.

I totally agree, although I am always hesitant to post crappy code publicly. I know its not the right approach, and most people would
likely make it better via PR (if it were interesting enough for the community) - but there is always the ahole (or 10) that will flame you
for you crappy code. --- SBBSecho 3.14-Win32
I ONLY write shitty code, so I just roll with it. :P
