    Hobby Basic is a BASIC language interpreter, written in FASM and runs under Windows XP/7/10 (no Linux). It's a hobby project, but one that is very capable with ANSI graphics and has some unique features like network functions.

    In the home page of the project, you will find many examples, made with this interpreter, like an ANSI editor and even games with ANSI graphics.

    Quite recently I found QB64 being really fun and enjoyable BASIC platform that works on Windows, Linux and MacOS, including M1/Silicon chips.

    How these two compare? Any experience?

    For sure QB64 is a more big/complete project. Hobby Basic is just for Windows and less capable, but still can do a lot of stuff, specially in the ANSI area. In the package are included some ANSI/ASCII games and even an ANSI editor. With HB you can do many things very quick and although it's BASIC for sure it's not QB.

    For someone who wants to remember the old DOS QB, QB64 is a one way ticket :)
