Josh Renaud has recently been advertising his new blog series about
ANSI's possible place in the origin story of web comics and I gave it a read this morning. It's only half out at the time of this post, but it's already been a fun read if you like to nerd out on this kind of thing:
https://breakintochat.com/blog/category/ansi-art-and-webcomics/?order=asc
As usual with Josh's stuff it's really well written, but in this case it seems to be targeting an audience a bit less familiar with the art scene and BBSing as whole, which seems like an odd choice given the theme of
his blog, but please cut him some slack when he's explaining what a BBS even is. ;)
Derp - Break into Chat. Right... not the comics I was thinking, but LOTS of cool ANSI/retro stuffs. Break into Chat is SICK.
Thanks for the share, reading up now. :P
The funniest thing to me is that he's centered on Eerie and sort of
talks about him like he's an unknown at first (which of course he would
be to most people) but if you followed the ANSI scene in the 90s, Eerie
is pretty much a household name. :P

Yeah, his blog is awesome, although I feel like most of his deep dives
are pretty insanely esoteric niches inside of an already niche topic itself. I absolutely love stuff like that though.
