...beautiful, my beautiful... Chinese Spy Balloon!!!
Our government seems as clueless, and vulnerable, as they
did right before 9/11.
I heard that it is well above airline flight paths, so it's not
deemed to be dangerous - and not worth shotting down, yet.

The problem with these things is that if you do nothing
about it, you end up looking like a pushover. Next time
they will do something that actually matters to you.

Well.. at least it was detected. But I am surprised that if
they can send rockets to land on comets, why can't it be
possible to send something with a camera to fly by or even
attach to that thing and pull it down?

Except that it is in our airspace and presumably gathering some sort of information, and now there are two of them.

it actually shut down airports, as well.
it flew over sensative areas where we have nuclear missle sites.

They finally shot it down after it went over the entire US...

Not sure if you have since gotten more of this story but Canada was aware of this spy balloon heading towards the USA for several days and had informed your gov't of its existance, not to suggest your people would not have seen it just as quickly once it entered your air space..

And it has since been shot down..
China was not amused that their 'Weather Balloon' which drifted off course (from China?) was destroyed rather than allowed to return home with, one assumes, a prediction of coming weather - possibly getting Hot in China. B)
I am sure it was reporting back plenty of data until the point where it got shot down.

It was deliberately shot down in waters too deep for retrival of debris. Creepy Joe would never betray his masters.
shooting down an unmanned invader is probably the protocol for all countries.
whats strange is they knew they were going to shoot it down. why not
have the salvage operation there to get it. instead they had to GO
there and that took some time. and the recovery is supposed to take
days.

They know damn well that if another country tried to do that in Chinese airspace, they'd shoot it down. China Joe just let the Chinese take pictures of all of the military bases in the balloon's path as a courtesy to his paymasters.

I heard that the US military was busy jamming any radio
emmissions from that thing.

Supposedly but I'd not trust today's US military to do anything but preach wokeness let alone protect the country.
