I've never received a call like that. I have received a "your computer has 10,000 viruses on it". Love those.

The scam here is "Your SIN has been compromised." or "You're being deported" etc. etc.

Daggone, sounds like you have been a real bad man if your sins are going to
get your deported from Canada. What did you do, wear a MAGA hat out in
    public somewhere?!? :O :D

LOL In Canada our SIN is the same as your SSN.

Mainly for tax reasons. I only use it when talking to the gubment or
the one time I gave it to my employer after I was already hired.

If they ask before I'm hired I refuse to give it to them which I am allowed
    to do.

In the USA the Medicare number (for many years) was the same as the SSN.
The Medicare number recently was changed to an entirely different sequence.

Still, when I go get some Lab Work at the hospital Registration personnel will still ask for the SSN and the Medicare number.
I asked why and the lady didn't know why it was still needed.

    Hi Ed,

I didn't know you were hanging around in these parts.

I asked why and the lady didn't know why it was still needed.

I now have to show my Medicare card now any time I check in for a doctor's appointment at the VA.

It's still needed because the computer program they use probably still
    asks for it. LOL

In rereading this message I thought Medicare is called the Primary Insurance and VA would bill them before any other Insurance You have.

I gone to VA Audiology, but not lately, and the Receptionist always ask for the last four numbers in my SS Insurance.
