That's pretty drastic. What if that message was "Hey Shawn..
my new phone number is <nnn-nnn-nnnn>. Give me a call!"
Why didn't they text it to me? ;) Even my mother texts.
Even my work phone; I disabled voicemail on it. They can email
or send me a teams chat message.
my BlackBerry Q10 could support. :( My Q10 is my principal
phone for business, so I *have* to answer most "Unknown caller"
Different thing for sure, when I had a cell phone from work I would
asnwer it when I was on the clock. Once I packed up my laptop I
shut down the cellphone and left it in my desk.
Probably why the boss just re-assigned that phone and told
me to give myself a "dialpad" number, so I did. ;)
Dialpad is some overly buggy poorly designed voip software.

Ah... OK, then text is an alternative that you support.
Excellent.
Personally, I would tend to NOT bother with texting unless it's
the only way to reach someone in the USA since my Luckymobile
plan only includes Canada-wide calling and international
texting.
Hmmm.. nice to be able to leave "work" at the office! My
nights are filled with biz-related stuff.
I use the free Fongo as an alternative/standby. It has come in
handy a few times when I would misplace my other phone. If the
misplaced phone is "on", then a call from Fongo would succeed
in ringing the missing phone nearby. :D

I just have a thing about voicemail. It's never important and
I don't want to listen to it. LOL

ALways a use for another phone. :) I lose mine all the time. :)

On the weekend when I'm on my flipphone in the woods I don't text
either. If you call me and I happen to hear it I will answer. If
I don't... call my wife she can get a hold of me. (She's more of a
phone person then I am.)
I miss my flip phone from ~10 years ago. It was so compact compared to any other phone I've used. Wasn't great for texting but, back then, I didn't do that hardly ever.
It was a TDMA phone, with fallback to analog. I swore by that thing for years. Then, in a series of odd developments, Pacific Bell Wireless became
Airtouch, then bought AT&T Wireless, shut down the actual AT&T Wireless network, renamed their GSM network AT&T Wireless, and replaced a rock-solid TDMA/Analog network with a crappy GSM network.

Had that on the work phone before I gave it up. It couldn't
translate 99% of the people who left me voicemail.
i use google find my phone.
I have all that disabled, not for any security reason just
because.
