• Switching shifts

From Shawn Highfield@618:500/33 to All on Sunday, April 09, 2023 04:27:05
    Good morning,

After a year on the afternoon shift which I did enjoy but found I wasn't
able to get anything done. Back onto early morning shifts. Not quite as
early as a 4am start time, but 6am comes early.

Woke up today at 4am... Decided to stay awake as the damn alarm will be
    going off at 4 tomorrow.

Not making much sense... 3/4 asleep. Ignore this. :)

While I was working for GM Engineering and when I had enough time in
I use to switch every year April 1st back on Days 6:00 am then Oct
1st back to nights and not worry about the snow.

    And yes I loved it!

Good luck on your moving to days...

So it didn't snow at night? :)

Not really and when it did with less traffic on the roads city clean up
was much faster and a lot of the people that didn't know how to drive
in snow were off the roads.

Plus when I started out for work in the afternoon that roads were clear
    9 1/2 times out of 10.

That makes sense. People who don't know how to drive on show are
less-likely to drive in it after dark if they don't have to.

    I agree Mike

It made my life much more easy living up north. I think of the time I would
take off in the morning scrape ice off the windows while the car was warming
up and if a heavy snow broom off the snow on the hood and truck, yuck their
would go 20 to 45 mins.

Now on afternoon nights take off for work the car due to the sun is gone and
by then the roads are mostly clear.

    Life was good!

Laughing now when I move back I'll have 40 acres too much snow around lake Linden, Mi who cares stay on the computer and talk to you folks.

Right or wrong it's my way of thinking!

    Hello

Must have been when you were in school maybe?

I lived most of my life in Metro Detroit but camped also a lot out west
and in the UP so yes I like that area year round pop is about 1100 people.

Now to me that sounds like heaven.

My only complaint was that when I was looking for work, there wasn't any! Have wanted to move back but have to convince the wife to put up with the snow.

I was only vacationing so I didn't take that into account. Hopefully,
things have changed, or you have a job that allows remote work. :) If I
did, I might be up that way somewhere.
