I found unrtf, but it doesn't support lines with a bunch of spaces in them, delimiting columns. It turned my allfiles.txt (a bunch of files.bbs files concatenated) into a mess. Is there a command line I can use to do this
under windows that will look right?

    Thanks!

I just used a batch file with:

    elefile filelist c:\ele\download\allfiles.txt 3-255
    echo ^<pre^> > \\shurato\htdocs\allfiles.html
    type c:\ele\download\allfiles.txt >> \\shurato\htdocs\allfiles.html
    echo ^</pre^> >> \\shurato\htdocs\allfiles.html

It's not beautiful, but it works and I learned how to pass < and > in the command line!

what are you attempting to do EXACTLY?
    file listings with html links?

if you are just wanting to show your files.bbs online put <pre>
at the top of the file.

I use a shareware program I've used for years. Detagger bu jafsoft. www.jafsoft.com/detagger

It's on the pricy side at $30USD but I've gotten that out of it in the
god knows how long I've had it.

There is a great util called BBS2HTML (which is open source) that will convert your FILES.BBS files to HTML.

Ok, I found v 1.0 and an os/2 version. I'm running Win32 and the dos version created a date and size entry for each line of the diz file description. I'm pretty sure this is more than what I was looking for, and would be a really good addition to my services. Is there a more functional version? I didn't have any luck finding binaries of the newer source and am not confident
enough to build my own unless there are complete instructions for idiots
(like when I compiled websockify for python).

The version you have is not the one I have. The one I have has binaries for DOS, OS/2 and Win32 IIRC and has the Pascal source in it. I've not used it myself since the BBS software I've used usually had a dedicated utility for
it that can do fILES.BBS -> HTML. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Yeah, EleBBS has elefile htmlist, but I'm missing fdbhtml.elm... Martin Ruzicka of Aleco Experience is trying to get me the .pas source code, which I can compile with elexer. Using BBS2HTML (at least the win32 version) I couldn't get it to prepend a directory name to the file names as it's supposed to, but I worked around that with sed. Thanks for the solution!

I've actually switched full time to ProBoard on the OS/2 system now, but I do still have my EleBBS install that I refer to from time to time. I would have to reinstall VP if I wanted to try building EleBBS again, which I may do sometime as I have a couple of bugs to hunt down. EleFile Filelist locks up if it tries listing an area with no entries in the file database, plus the <S> key to abort a textfile doesn't work if it's doing the wait 1 second on a ^W character.

So many projects; so little time...
