Moon Approaches Saturn (evening)
On Sunday, November 10, the waxing gibbous moon will climb the southeastern
sky all afternoon. Once the sky begins to darken after sunset, face south and look for the prominent, yellowish dot of Saturn close enough to the moon for them to share the view in binoculars. Later that evening, observers located in a broad zone extending from the Atlantic Ocean and southwest across southern Florida, the Caribbean, Central America, and northwestern South America can
see the moon occult Saturn with unaided eyes, binoculars, and backyard telescopes. Surrounding regions will see the moon merely pass close to Saturn. Use an app like Starry Night to look up the occultation times for your location.
