You're lucky to get a hotel room for under $100 a night now.

On my trips the last couple of years rooms went from $40 something to
$175 a night (that was on a holiday weekend and a shock to me at check out time). And I stayed at both econo chains and mom and pop places (the ones I prefer). Most rooms were in the $4

Your response got cut off again. You're getting like these folks who
left a poor review of the hotel, and they up the charge on them, and
    evict them early.

And they all had free wifi.

As Robert Heinlein said, TANSTAFFL -- someone is paying for it.

It was something like most rooms were in the $4x to $75 range.

I can't recall ever giving a bad review*. But then all I'm interested is
a clean bed and a bath. (The bathroom can be down the trail into the woods

I'm easy to please and not looking for all sorts of fancy things.

Its included in the room rent.
There have been some places one had to pay by the hour for its use. But
none of the places I stayed at. Either in a city or the middle of nowhere.
Generally on my travels I just started looking for a place around 3 p.m.
