Hello Everybody,
"The assault on the Capitol was an effort to overthrow an elected government. Very explicitly, their claim was coming from Trump that
the election was stolen, so let's march on the Capitol and save our
country from the stolen election. Well, an effort to overthrow an
elected government is what's called a coup. It almost succeeded.
It's now been reported extensively. We have videotapes, we have
details. A few people, Republicans, in fact, refused to go along,
and prevented the coup from succeeding. But it has been followed
by a soft coup, which is taking place before our eyes. You read
about it every day.
"The Republicans are planning carefully to ensure that next time,
their coup will succeed. They're doing it very systematically,
perfectly in the open, at the state level where elections take
place, trying to ensure that the people who run the elections
physically are there when you cast your vote, the election monitors
make sure that they are right-wing Republicans, who will ensure
that if people vote the wrong way, the vote won't be counted.
The Republican Party is no longer a political party. It's a
neofascist party.
"The United States is a technologically advanced society, and
culturally advanced, in some sectors, but culturally pre-modern
in other sectors. That's Trump's voters, and he's a very effective demagogue. He has succeeded in tapping the poisons that run right
under the surface in American society, bringing them to the surface, mobilizing them. They are now a group who worship Il Duce, the leader
chosen by God. He's got them in his control. Those are the ones who
stormed the Capitol, and are now planning to ensure that next time
it'll work. American democracy is in very serious danger."

Good, then it should be easy to charge people with insurrection...
I'm waiting. Have many people been charged so far?

Hello Dennis,
Almost doesn't count.
More than half of all Republicans believe Trump won the election,
that the election was stolen due to voter fraud.
Chomsky is a linguist, and does not mince words when telling a story.
Not sure if anybody bought a Jeep, as everyplace they went was
well within walking distance.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) has censured Rep. Liz Cheney
and Adam Kinzinger because they are sitting on a Congressional panel trying to find out what happened on that day. And it did so by voice
vote, being too chickenshit to do so by open ballot.
Oscar Wilde once said there is no sin except stupidity.
If the definition of sin is stupidity, the RNC's decision to
portray a violent and extremist mob as patriots is profoundly
politically sinful.
This action by the RNC ties the entire party, along with its millions
of honorable activists, to the violent actions of a few, who were all incited to riot by Donald Trump and his aides.
If the RNC had chosen to leave it all alone, the American people
would have eventually moved on to other subjects and forgotten all
about the events of January 6.
This was Stupid. Oscar-level Stupid.
Makes Forrest Gump seem like a genius.
Break glass in case of:
LEGITIMATE POLITICAL DISCOURSE
Republican National Committee
I cannot underscore the fact enough - The RNC censured the
representatives by voice vote, so that members aren't taking
responsiblity individually for the lie.
A few hundred. With more to come. But that is not the issue.
The majority of Republicans believe the lie, that Trump won the
election - and that the election was stolen due to voter fraud.
They view the actions taken by individuals on January 6 was
"legitimate political discourse", and that members of Congress
who disagree should be censured. Or even removed from office.
Chomsky is right. There is no longer a Republican Party but
a political sect. A "neofascist party" as Chomsky puts it.
Imagine that. A party that once stood for obedience to law,
personal responsibility, and respect for law enforcement -
becoming what it is now. A party that calls the case of
suppressing "legitimate political discourse" is the same
as to portray criminals as victims.
You got that? The insurrectionists of January 6 are heroes!
Heroes of the RNC and Republicans everywhere! And all those
who disagree are TRAITORS!
US Senator and former Republican nominee for President Mitt
Romney said of the censure that the two (Cheney and Kinzinger)
deserve honor for sticking to their convictions.
The mob incited to riot by then-president Donald Trump represents everything the Republican Party used to stand against.
The RNC censure of Cheney and Kinzinger is just the beginning
of the purge. It will not stop until all have been removed, or neutralized.
Fascism with a smile. That is what we have coming to the USA.
A lot sooner than you and others might want to think.
