I finally figured out what Vladimir Putin wants.
I really should have known all along.
Silly me.
We all should have known.
Not just me.
Why is it we are all so stupid?
Rocky Squirrel did try to warn Bullwinkle.
Boris and Natasha are a very clever team.
Drew up that 2015 Minsk peace deal.
All by themselves.
Aimed at halting the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Only problem was both sides forgot to make
arrangements for independently monitored elections
in the separatist regions.
Even though Crimea had its own independently
monitored election the year before.

NATO should be no concern to Russia or Vladimir
Putin, as its secretary-general swears that NATO's
alliance is defensive and that any military support
is purely along those lines. And besides, it is not
up to Putin who gets to join NATO, even though it
is obvious he would like to be invited.

"It is up to Ukraine and 30 [NATO] allies to
decide when Ukraine is ready to join the alliance."

Yep. Garry Kasparov had to ask. So he was
given an answer.

Stoltenberg continued by saying Russia has
"no veto, no right to interfere in that process."

Oh well.

I'd still rather have independently monitored
elections. With Donald J. Trump as judge, jury,
and executioner.
