I have been doing website design and hosting for more years than I can count, but had
never done any for published authors.

I received a long-distance call from a friend of a friend that knew I liked designing
websites. He has written several books of poetry and needed a website. He doesn't
own a computer and is dependent on his daughter when she comes to visit him to get
me updates for the site, so it isn't going to o quickly.

Then, last week I got call from a neighbor who is having a book published and she needs
a website. That's 2 sites for publishers in less than a week! Her site is fairly complete

It's much easier t design a site when the client can meet with you than to do a Zoom
whenever the daughter has some free time. Joan specifically wanted the site exactly the
way it was done. She and I both got instant gratification as we tweaked the template.

I don't make much money doing this for friends, but it is something I love to do.

It is nice when one can find a hobby or side-job that they can enjoy like
that. There are parts of my full-time job that I can enjoy like that, but
they seem to come more few and far between the longer I have been at it.

My real job was law enforcement, but I took a liking to computers before Windows was
even a thing. I ran a DOS version of Wildcat and learned how to code in the late 80's.

I ran a web design - web hosting business on a Linux server I purchased from Dell and
co-located in amongst hundreds of other servers. At one time I had 80 customers. I
sold my customer base to another designer when I turned 65, but found that I just
couldn't give it totally.

8 years later, I still enjoy helping small businesses or local clubs by designing their
websites.

I now offer the opportunity to provide customers with there own online Directory
https://www.directorylist.info/get_your_own_directory/. There are a million ways to
earn money on the internet, and I try to implement as many as I have time for. For me,
it IS fun!
