Let 'em try. I'm on my fourth bankruptcy. They can't do anything to me
I haven't already done to myself. <G>

They learned from the federal government. Are you telling me the feds
can't do anything new to you? <GG>
Ouch! I have the same problem here... about 400 GB of spare drives, and GH>all of them PATA....
I am going to give InfraRecorder a try and see if it will replace GH>MicroBurner. I do believe that app is no longer supported, so perhaps
InfraRecorder can be it's replacement for me. Thanks for opointing me towards
it...
That would work if I had some SATA drives, but the extra drives I have right now are all PATA.
Between those two programs, I'll never spend hard-earned money for Nero/Roxio/whatever, ever again. No need for any commercial program
when those two do the job just fine.
With open source/freeware apps like InfraRecorder and ImgBurn, VLC, and others, you could conceivably set up a decent, usable system with
nothing more than a Windows installation disc and a network connection.

So now I have a terabyte of HDD space... and find it echoes when I ask GH>for a file, it's so empty in there <GG>

Main reason I want one (aside from the fact I just want one - <G>) is I've been doing some video editing here and there. I'll record a VHS tape,
and then dub it to a DVD with my DVD recorder/VCR combo. Then, import
the DVD into the video editing program. I get a more reliable capture
that way. I can hook the camera (or other tape machine) directly to the computer, but unless I start Windows up "with just the basics" (via MSCONFIG), it drops frames here and there when I'm trying to do a
direct capture from tape. Importing from the DVD is much more reliable.

Ahhhh... now the truth comes out <GG>
Now that is a reason for a bigger hard drive. Those video files can be GH>monstrous! <GG>
If you want a suggestion? Continue to store those .iso images, but do
so on an external HDD. Especially if you have older drives hanging about
Oh, and for burning thos .iso files, have you looked at ImgBurn? IMHO,
as good as it gets for burning image files, and free...
Hm.. I do the same thing but have cut out one of the middlemen. I
have a device which connects from my VCR to my iMac, and a software that
I've thought about that. I'll end up having to get either a larger external hard drive, or two or three external cases. In any event,
that's going to mean a lot of USB and power cables "snaking around"
under the desk. <G>
Actually, that's what I use. I use Infrarecorder (also free) for
regular CD/DVD burning, and ImgBurn for burning, er, image files. <G>
Instead of multiple external drives, and USB cables, try this...

Sounds good. I still find myself amazed that ImgBurn remains free...
I'll give Infrarecorder a look... thanks
