Is Kitchener named after the general who fought in the Boer Wars?

Short answer... yes <G>

Longer answer... The city was originally named Berlin, in recognition
of the large German population around here. The area was first settled (non-native) by Mennonites from the Pennsylvania Dutch area, and as a
result, attracted a fair German population. During WWI, however, anti-German sentiment was strong enough that after much debate, in late 1916,
Berlin was renamed Kitchener, after Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener from the Boer War, and Secretary of State for War in Britain until his death in
1916.

See? That isn't a problem up here, as not only vets, but everyone has GH>free care under our universal healthcare system. Even you would have such GH>coverage if you were visiting up here. treatment when visiting someone, our "socialised medicine" here spoils you from wanting to visit where the same isn't. I can understand his

Men's hockey is doing fine, as is woman's. Both men's and woman's curling are right up there, and Ladies figure skating is doing

well, so...

Yup! It's looking good. I really hope the men's hockey team can keep up that excellent momentum.

As we all now know, the women beat USA for the gold in their hockey
final, the Swedish team stole the gold from Canada in Ladies Curling, taking the extra end to do it, the men's hockey team beat the Russians,

and

is currently beating Slovakia 2-0. Looks like it just may be a Canada -
USA match up for the gold...

I just heard that the US Men's Hockey team has advanced to the finals.
They beat Finland 6 to 1, according to the report I heard.

Since I'm not able to watch the Olympics, I don't know if the other
finals team has been set yet. I did hear, however, that the Russians
haven't been much of a factor this year.

I know when the US shocked Canada, there was talk down here about the possibility of a "rematch" of sorts between the US and the Russians.
