I didn't want to post this in the 'Politics' echo because I don't believe that it is.
I recently viewed a video of a show done by the Ukrainian-American comic Yakov Smirnoff. It opens by showing clips of George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy
Carter. It looked like it would be something I wouldn't want to watch.
But watching the video all the way through, I learned how happy he was to be an
American now. He got a doctorate in Psychology, and is very articulate. The message
that he wanted his audience to take from the show is: How happy he is to be an
American.
He said that he didn't come to America to be a Democrat or a Republican; he came here
to be an American, and his motto is: "What a Country".
I think we all could take a hint from this. I belong to a Winnebago RV group and there
are 2 things we never discuss when we get together, Religion or Politics. We get along
very well and have a great time together when we meet.
