We have had some brief but decent rains over the past couple of days. The
two cherry tomato plants I put in over the weekend should like that. So
also should the wild flower seeds I put down. I have a flower bed that is
full of crocus, then dafodyls, during the Spring but is pretty bare at the moment. Just the knock-out rose bush in the center, and a few now-I-cannot-remember-what-they-are-calleds surrounding it. Those will probably not bloom until July.

I used to have lillies planted in that bed but the deer used to eat them
all before they would bloom, so I moved anything that was not mostly
wildlife resistant out of that bed a couple of years ago. If the
wildflowers take hold, maybe they will keep the weeds at bay. :)

    Mike

    Hi Mike!

We have had some brief but decent rains over the past couple of
days. The two cherry tomato plants I put in over the weekend

We had a very hot Monday -- somewhere in the 90's. Official high
temperature I saw was 92o; thermometer at the house said 99o and that is usually within a degree or two of the two NWS sites a few miles from the
    house.

This morning (Thursday) it's 57o -- guess part of the cooldown after
Cristobal wandered through giving about 2" of rain.

Like at your place things are really growing here: yard has sometimes to
be cut twice a week. Have a largish patch of groundcover -- used to be
under a maple tree but the tree died a few years ago. Without a tree to
shade the groundcover has really taken off! With the rain and warm-to-
hot temperatures it has _really_ taken off!! I need to get in there and starting whacking it back closer to the ground so it doesn't look
overgrown but other things need to be done first. Only so much time,
not going to do it in the rain nor when too hot.

    the weeds at bay. :)

If the weeds are pretty allow them to grow too!

It was 55F here this morning... I loved it while it lasted. :)

Well, we got some rain but nothing like that. I think it was enough to
account for any watering I might have done myself, but it was not near
enough to really get things growing. We've sort of entered a mostly dry spell... hot and humid some days but not much rain. The yard barely needed mowing last weekend, and does not need it at all this weekend. It will get crunchy soon!

They are not. Just some kind of wild vine-like groundcover that gets
tangled into everything in the flower bed if not kept at bay.

Here in easter Iowa it's 57o again this morning -- about the same as
yesterday started, just a lot less humidity. Think yesterday was
something like 90% which made me think twice about opening the windows: letting the cool air in: nice. Letting in that soggy air -- ergh! (Did
    open and didn't get humid.)

<chuckle> Yes, it will be the usual hot and humid here soon enough.
Right now the grass needs to be mowed about twice a week; soon will be
    lucky if twice a month.

Pull! We have a problem with Creeping Charlie. It's not a bad-looking
weed: minty smell when walking on or otherwise crushed, sort of a
purple-blue flower. Trouble is it kills the grass abd everything else.
