Odd. AFAIK I didn't resend it; I think the last message was to Mike
Powell.

Sometimes necessary. Just not too much!

This has happened a couple times before. Suspect the database
index gets corrupted, but when it reruns, it fixes itself. Might
just be a matter of age/size.

It won't be near as loose after I get done beating on it! :D

It's those pesky O-rings!
What model was your new motherboard again? You've told me about
six times, and every time I've immediately forgot!

<chuckle> BTDT, forgot what I was doing!
MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4. I did receive notification of a price drop a
few weeks ago so might be still at a decent price.

Brain! memory! what did I do with them??

Ah. Someone had its poor cousin for sale locally (Z590) but $150
seemed high when it's $164 on Amazon!

Is that where "turn onion sideways and it says 'no-no'" refers to?!

Remember to take your Prevagen! ...I've heard of smart octopi - opening jars, squirting by-standers for fun, etc., but never anything like that
about jellyfish.

Well, $14 is $14 but if you're meaning a $14 difference between the
'poor cousin' version and mine, I'd probably be spending that $14!

I think mine says, "Uh-oh" :D

Jellybrain perhaps...

Nope, I mean the same board is $14 more on Amazon. Oh well, not
like I need it this instant. Besides...
My sister just gift me an almost-new laptop from her office,
ejected because they have liability concerns and it can't do
Win11. i7-6xxx, considerably faster than the i7-3xxx/4xxx on single-threaded, but barely faster on multithreaded, which is
kinda weird if you ask me.

Good news on the new 'toy'; odd (but not really) about the liability
issues. And yes, one would think the bigger numbers would mean bigger-better-badder but not true.

So turns out the BIOS date was munged up, but the asset tag in
Dell's form says 2016. Still pretty new by my lights, and has an
NVMe so quite snappy. I named it Pony. Everyone wants a pony,
right? :)
Now if I could get its Win10 to let the rest of the network SEE
it... everything is set correctly, shared and discoverable and
the super secret admin account activated, but still is only a
name on the network and refuses to let anyone else see its
precious files. I seem to recall I had this problem with
Fireball's Win10 after it was lately updated...
... if I'm going to have network problems, why don't I install
linux instead? that way I could have the same network problems
but overall less stupidity.
Oh, here's the latest. The God Mode (access every setting in one
place) shortcut now won't show a name, only the icon.

Right! It's "Ky's Litle Pony"!
...I wonder if the BIOS date was damaged
because of a bad BIOS update or something to do with encryption: it was a business computer and so possibly using a key when communicating.

Well, maybe my guess on why the munged BIOS date is why the files aren't being seen externally.

Works for me! Might be able to have a passageway between the possibly encryted Windows section and the Linux section (shared folder). (My
guess is still encrypted, but worth the fun playing!)

"Use my name in vane and banishment!"

LOL that's it.

Normally there's an asset date that's permanent, and a BIOS date
that can change. Apparently the former got rewritten along with
the latter.

No, this is a Recent-version-Win10 thing. Fireball's Win10 does
it too.
OTOH, it can see the linux box's files.

Not encrypted. It was a brand new install from the recovery
partition. And it shows you if it's encrypted. It's not.

I gotta use this line on the dentist. <g>
I've started printing out 'strange items of interest' for my 6-month checkups. First one was a several-year-old toothpaste ad with a casually-good-looking guy with two decent-looking ladies. He is missing
a front tooth. He's also missing an eyebrow (and he has dark hair) but
just about everyone misses that detail.

Ah, ad artwork done with MidJourney. <g>
