• Network work-around?

From Barry Martin@454:1/1 to All on Thursday, January 26, 2017 15:14:00

    Hi Folks!

Haven't seen any answers to my original post about how to merge my two networks (192.168.0.x and 192.168.3.x). Basically looks like can't
without some expense, so I'm thinking of a potential alternative. Right
now need the two WiFi's as some of the old devices won't use the new
    protocol.

    Proposal:

    Some wireless devices
    /
    Wireless @ 192.168.0.1
    /
    DSL == Gateway Computer
    \ /
    Ethernet --- Computer
    º \
    º Computer
    º
    º
ÈÍÍ Raspberry Pi === Other wireless devices
    192.168.0.15 192.168.0.200

Raspberry Pi has a wireless dongle. Ethernet 'input' is 192.168.0.15. Proposed 'output' on the wireless side is 192.168.0.200. Theoretically
now everyone is on the same network. RPi using Channel 6; the Gateway's wireless is set to roam.

    TIA!

That was sort of what I was wondering... if you'd just be better off moving everything to 192.168.0.x. That sounds like something that would work.

I'll have to try; to me sound slogical (everything 192.168.0.x) but then
so did some stuff on 192.168.3.x and 'merging' via a setting in the
    gateway.

If no other little quirkies pop up like they did yesterday wil probably
    try later today.
